Copy That: A Funky Dining Room

So in case you can’t tell, I have this thing for dining rooms. I’ve decided that they are by far my favorite room in a house.

Dining rooms pretty much all have the same basic elements, seating, table, light, storage, etc. which a design novice like me loves. Not too much thought has to go into knowing what items you need – but you can also get really creative when choosing those basic items which allows you to create a really fun room to eat breakfast in alone or to host a bustling dinner party.

Here is a fun and funky dining space from Living Etc.

And here are some similar items that I’ve found in case you want to achieve this look in your own home.1.  Green Eames Rocking Chair  (tip: get a white version that’s mucho cheapo at K-Mart instead) 2. Iron and Crystal Chandelier from Pottery Barn  3. Mirrored Buffet Cabinet from Horchow  4. KOLBY Cowhide Rug from IKEA  5. Bradshaw Table from Room and Board  6. RIBBA Frame from IKEA  7. Martha Stewart Living Paint in Ballet Slipper Pink  8. Wooden Chair from Overstock  9. Wooden Stacking Chairs from Target (which are such a steal that I would just paint them pink myself with the pink paint featured).

It’s important to note that both the walls and floor of this room are painted a bright white and the window lets in lots of light which I think plays a huge role in the design – meaning if your dining room is a cave with very little light this room might not turn out as bright and cheery as the image. Still funky and full of character for sure though.

With exception to the pink chair and the green rocker, all the furniture is fairly neutral. Most of the color found in the room comes from accessories like the floral centerpiece, the artwork, and the beverage bottles found on the mirrored buffet.  Keep that in mind when accessorizing your space.

Got a room you’d like us to tackle? Need help hunting down something similar to an item you’ve seen in a magazine? Let us know! Want to read our first Copy That article of another unique dining room, check out this post.
